He studied for many years with the renowned Cork accompanist Eleanor Malone at the Cork School of Music before undertaking his principal studies at the Royal College of Music with Simon Lepper, receiving additional coaching from Roger Vignoles and Danny Driver.

He has performed with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra, and has worked extensively with singers in art song and opera, in addition to serving as musical director for theatre projects and collaborating with contemporary singer-songwriters.

Brian as a Singer-Songwriter

Brian’s songwriting began in his hometown of Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, where he first started writing and performing original material as a teenager. After an early period in a band setting, he co-founded the duo The Der-B Chronicles, performing regularly in venues across the region and developing a catalogue of original songs.

His songs are shaped by classical harmonic language infused with blues influences, and are characterised by emotive, deeply personal lyric writing.

Since then, he has continued to write and perform in Dublin and London, appearing at songwriter showcases and open mic platforms, and recording an extensive body of work. In 2015, he performed in Kerry alongside acclaimed Irish songwriter Jimmy MacCarthy, and has also appeared with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in concerts featuring artists such as Declan O'Rourke.

Brian regularly collaborates with his good friend and fellow songwriter Hayat Selim, and together they have released two duet performances: No Time To Die meets Ancient Egypt from the James Bond film No Time To Die and Remember from the film Troy.

His debut single, This New Phase, is scheduled for release in June 2026.
